I just came across a list of 5 running “essentials” that were posted at Huffington Post. The list was intended for people just starting out, and who were aiming for completing a 5K.
That article listed the following 5 items as “essential”
- compression socks
- wicking socks
- running storage (like a flip belt)
- wireless headphones
- muscle roller
Most of what’s on the list I agree with. Except for the last item …I don’t know that a roller is a “running essential.”
Really, the only essential for running is a pair of running shoes. Everything else is a want, not a need. That being said, here are my 5 running must-haves:
- Shoes
- Phone
- Wireless headphones
- Compression sleeves for my shins
- Hat
